Another dev is working no the game this week, he already pretty much finished the shop system already, and the interaction with other party members was third partied to another writer so there's a chance he's working on them now.

Because of how well time was spent, we might even put Sir Dan in next week's demo.

Teleporters now work!

You have to activate the teleporter in the locations before you can be teleported there, of course.

All teleporters will lead home and from there you can go to other locations.

There's currently 2 teleporters other than home's: One in SNOW FORT (PR town) and another at the Lost's village (near the monstergirl dungeon)

Many new enemies Emerged!

Today, I finished drawing, scanning and resizing a good amount of new monsters:

2 new mobs for the sunken ship dungeon: one by me and one an OC by another guy from long ago.

And of course, not counting the boss, 3 new for the monstergirl section! 2 by me and another OC. One of them is a joke, of course.

Finally, 3 new misc. enemies which I'll probably use later on.

Even more bug fixes!

Me and the other dev fixed a LOT of bugs today.

Most significantly the PR quests bug and the long fucked up equipment slots finally work.

Polishing up PR town.

Finally added all those interactable you guys love so much to the town, made two shops in it and made one of the quests better.

Also, finally fixed the heavy shields' names and descriptions.

A buncha new changes! And an announcement.


I'll have some time off university so I'll have much more time to work on the game for about 3 weeks! Feel happy!

>Fixed a small character missing error in the font that appeared in the equip menu.

>Fixed bug in the basement's computer where if you create a feel thread without a Bump, you wouldn't receive a Bump item.

>Also fixed the event when the player interacts with it from the wrong direction.

>Made some of the game's weapons two handed and added a new type of weapon: 2 handed swords. Also rebalanced them all.

>Weapons are now separated in more specific types other than wrist, pole, handle, american and magical.

>Created and modified a bunch of icons for the weapons.

>Rewrote the books in the house for them to properly describe the changes in the system.

>Made the new weapon's damage type have an effect on enemies.

Sorry for everyone that still believed and supported this project and after two weeks of waiting got disjointed and forced to wait yet another day to see the new changes.

I've got myself two very busy weeks. Uni's finals, projects to finish and all that. I didn't get enough time to work on the game. But it's still my fault, and I'm very sorry.

If I don't deliver the demo tomorrow, you can mark this project, and myself, as dead.

But I'll work hard tonight and tomorrow to create lots of new content and make up for all this shit. So be prepared!

Pool results.

So it looks like people really wanted a database overhaul after all.

I already started working on it when I saw how the pool was evolving. I got plenty of ideas and some long formulas on how everything will be made and balanced to make this a proper game.

But we'll discuss that tomorrow. Just keep in mind this game will have TONS of skills, not just Power Attack and Power Attack+1. Not to mention equipment items and other goodies.

Also, it may take me more then a week to make the game playable again, so there's no demo this week.

So, I'll fix the database and try to include the tortanic dungeon alongside the jew character and the waifu simulators in the next demo, To make up for these one or two weeks without it.

Also, people won't need to unzip and merge and the audio pack anymore, just extract them separately and copy the contents to the game's Audio/BGM folder.

Castle Finished! Secret ending added!

A major section of Skeletown is finished, and it includes a nice miniquest with it.

Also, you can now trigger a special ending if you kill both the king and the mafia leader.

WHITTU PIGGU GOHOM ADDED.

The BGS from the gameplay video that plays in Joe's intro event is now actually in the game.

I'm sorry I didn't implement this before.

Black character is now actually black!

Notice how the player's character had a black face set but his character's walking sprite was a fine arian man?

That's fixed now.

Quite a big change, if you ask me, I'm surprised no one noticed before.

New Menu sounds and a Cellphone!

This week, I changed the menu sounds from the vanilla to a different one! Hope you guys like it and guess where is it from.

Another major thing was the addition of a cellphone item! You can dial numbers and trigger events with it!

Currently now there are 5 events accessible through it, good luck guessing the numbers! More events and numbers will be added to it as people suggest more.

New Layout, new demo out... Simply marvelous!

Handling the demos got a tad more difficult after I decided to follow the new, much smaller format, so I wrote an easy step by step guide for you guys.

I changed the blog's layout a bit, to fit the all new "How to download and play" text to the right. The blog's archive is now located below the download's links's list to the left.

The background was also slightly changed, to show to everyone that THE WEEKLY THREADS WILL NOW BE MADE AT WEDNESDAY'S LATE AFTERNOON AS OPPOSED TO THURSDAY.

Also, the demo's already out to the blog goers, gr-gr-grab it while it's hot!

Important info regarding the next demos and this week's thread.

DON'T PANIC! I'VE GOT THE DEMO READY AND UPLOADING!

I'll be making some changes in the demo files. Now, they won't have the giant Audio/BGM folder anymore. This will reduce the size of the download file A FUCKING LOT. From now on, only the new songs added that week will be included in the demo download, so you'll have to merge last week's demo's Audio/BGM folder with the new one's. People that do not have the last week's demo will have to download the audio pack separately and then merge it with the current week's demo's.

Next, regarding this week's thread: My uni will have my ass on class until 9 fucking PM 4chan time every Thursday, so unfortunately I'll only be able to create and maintain that thread at that time.

This week's thread will be created on Thursday, at 9 pm 4chan time.

Starting from next week, the weekly threads will be on Wednesday instead of Thursday. Same time: late afternoon.

And I believe in you guys that believe in me!

We had some pretty serious personal issues this week and we couldn't create enough content to have a demo ready today. I promise I'll bring a very substantial demo next week to cover all of this. We're really sorry. The other dev will post his apologies too soon.

Also, I deleted the H-scene post because everyone agreed it was terrible, I'll try to get a drawfag to work with us soon.

This week, I kept the other dev working on the game because he still had to finish a lot of sections he made last week and a couple more things he wanted to add.

Also, I would like to announce that my uni is coming back from a strike, and my classes will soon start again. This doesn't mean I'll stop working on the game, but expect updates with less content from now on or ones made by the other dev.

Vacation Week. (Please read the entire post before killing me)

So, I decided to take this week off. I won't produce any direct content for the game, I'll only work on the art and manage the volunteer's team.

Why? Because I'm pretty tired, so I need a time out of the game developing. Also, I have no inspiration to work on it right now. And another busy week awaits me.

So what now? Don't worry, my dear players, because I left someone in charge of the game for this week in my place: An English major who will polish up the dialogue a lot and create some more OC parts for you guys to play. You won't be left empty handed! You though I would go Notch? Fuck you! I love you guys!

So, don't panic, and don't give up on me or the game. And I know you guys will like what this anon has in mind. Have a short introduction written by him:

"Hey there! I'm Icarus, the new developer for /v/irgin Quest. Some of you may already know me as the leader of the glorious Purple Republic. My primary role is updating old text and writing entirely new dialogue for the game, but I am also contributing my own ideas to the game (which means, yes, there will be PR references). I'll be taking over development during this vacation week, but you'll also see me pitching in behind-the-scenes beyond that. This also means I'll be personally taking suggestions for scenes to be put into the game and actively working on them. Now I have no idea what else to put here."

I'll just go in this small "vacations" when I really think I need them. Better than forcing myself to do it and making shit or filler content, like I said before. But  I'll never leave the game stagnated.

A change of direction.

Sorry for the lack of updates. But my bedroom has been invaded by a horde of dreadfully attractive girls this weekend, so I could not recover all my spaghetti in time to work on the game until now.

I was planning on finishing Skeleton Town first before making new places, but I am really NOT inspired enough to do so. So I decided that instead of forcing myself to finish things, which could result in worse, uninspired and rushed sections, I'll just do what I feel I can do with the same "quality" as the first sections of the game.

I won't allow the game to turn into a collection of unfinished events, but I just can't make a section as extensive and deep as the Skeleton town turn into a shadow of it's original concept, slowing down development in general with the forced labor.

I know this mentality may not be the greatest for game making in general, but it'll work the best with this particular project.

So, what will I do from now on while I muster up enough inspiration to finish the SkeleTown?

The /v/ mansion. But not the happy and funny place you imagine in the threads. Something much worse.

I've been really into horror games these days, and the new lighting system holds a lot of possibilities, specially for this section. Plus, I've been having ideas for it like crazy for a good amount of days now. I can't wait any longer to start working on it.

Hopefully, not only will this new mentality speed things up a lot and save precious patience and dedication, but will make for better locations and events, made from the beggining to the end with love and inspiration.

TL;DR: SKELTOWN POSTPONED, 2SPOOKY /V/ MANSION INCOMING.

Lower Burgs development!

I finished the Strip Jazz Night Gambling club, minus the Black Jack section, which I'll develop little by little from now, in a way I won't get extremely bored out of it, and started working on the outsides of the skeleton town.

It will be divided in 3 sections: Lower burgs, where the poor fellas hang out, which is full of bums and has random thief battle encounters, Upper burgs, with more or less rich folks and less thief random encounters, and the noble neighborhood, with only a few large houses and the castle.

Black Jack coding: Not as easy as it sounds.

Jesus fucking christ, I knew a card game would take a hell of a lot of work and time to be done, but this shit excels all expectations! Not only did I have to draw 52 cards, but I'll have to set up 52 cards ID and draw them accordingly to their "place" in the table. And I have to do this 10 times, one for each of the "places" in the table.

But now that I have started it, I better finish, god have mercy upon me and all game makers...

At least you'll get a proper Black Jack game in the skeleton town, which would be shit if it didn't had AT LEAST ONE card game to play.

I CAN'T WAIT TO START WORKING ON THE SLOTS MACHINE.

What am I doing? A big thing: Skeleton Town.

So, sorry for the lack of updates, but that's because I'm working on something big right now: the skeleton town.

But what's so big about it? The map size? No!

Mafia, thugs, social segregation, political conflicts, eternal night, jazz, hard strip tease clubs, bums, casinos, bars...

And of course, spooky scary skeletons puns!

This will be the biggest and most packed town I have ever created in all vidya I ever made, and it's planned NOT to be the biggest of the game.

I'm putting a lot of heart into it, so expect a very nice update on next week's demo.

Day/Night System finally fixed!

After 9999 hours in RPG Maker, I managed to fix (most of) the time system and properly tint the screen according to sun set/rise, day and night.

If you have a suggestion on how the RGB/255 screen tint effect should be, please let me know.

More and better icons!

Because testing time system gets old very fast.

I added a bunch of new icons to the game, including guns, spears, etc.

Fixing big small problems.

I'm using this little time I have before yesterday's real thread to fix as many issues with the Time system as I can. I just fucking hope everything WORKS.

Another nice change I made is that light sources will need things in order to keep lit, like lanterns using oil, torches using alcohol-dampered cloth, candles using wax, etc. This will surely add a lot to the game.

And to compliment the day/night system, I'll make the player capable of using his bed to sleep until day or night, to avoid having to force them to wait for an event to pop up or the shop to open.

Also, I discovered several bugs with the time system, so I'll fix them by them.

Mountain Boss Voice Acting!

Hoooly shit, the boss's VA is ready and already applied to the game!

Even if I do not manage to finish the dungeon annexed to the mountain until tomorrow, you're gonna have one heck of a MEATY update!

2 New Monsters and a dungeon!

Drew and added 2 new monsters to the game: zombies!

Also, finished 2 out of 4 floors of the attached to the mountain dungeon.

I really wish I could finish the top of the mountain location, but I guess the boss will do for now.

New Battle System

I implemented the new battle system, as decided by the poll.

Because of the tight choice, I decided to make it so that when you're choosing your actions, the battle will pause.

A Handful of Updates!

You thought I was slacking? HUEHUEHUE GUESS AGAIN!

I've been working on a lot of VERY meaninful new things!

2 (actually 3) new bosses! One of them an OC draw for the first forest boss.

The new boss is gonna be the mountain's, and you can of course talk your way through if you BONE UP your pun skills. But the best thing about it it's that it's gonna be VOICE ACTED! (because it's external work, I can't guarantee it's gonna make it to this week's thread).

I am planning to make the party members more meaninful to outside-of-battle sections too, like CRAB NICHOLSON crabbercutting falling rocks to protect you.

And a very special secret new system I made, which you'll have to wait for the next thread to see.

Also, because of GABENscon thursday, I'll create the weekly thread SATURDAY.

Hopefully, this will most probably attract a wider audience to a game and give me a little more time to polish things up a bit more.

After a great battle against blogger, I think I finally fixed the blog's layout.

Now we got something! Blog Layout!

This new blog Layout should do the trick, thanks to a very special someone who helped me a lot with it.

I won't post updates on the game for a couple of days because a lot of shit is going on right now, but I'll do osmething as soon as I am avaliable.

General explanations on everything.

The idea of an RPG Maker game made by /v/ may sound shitty on paper, but the project has been going for a good amount of time now - there are weekly threads showing decent updates and changes made to the game. I never let any decent idea or suggestion from anyone go blank. If you think a change will be worthwhile, just mention it in one of the weekly threads and there is a 95% chance I will implement it. I can't brag about the game's quality, but I can say this is pretty different from other amateur projects and the general funny games made by /v/. One of the main differences is that I, the dev, am simply not going to give up. I know my skills in game making are shit, but that won't stop me from giving my best and my DARK SOOOUL for this game. And I'll simply not fucking give up on this. It may take 2 years or so to finish this completely, but I'll just keep making it, no matter what.

I know I said I would make no threads next week, because I'm gonna have a very busy week ahead of me. But I decided to make it anyway. Just don't expect any marvelous updates like last time. At least for the enxt thread.

Yesterday I made the outside part of the mountainside town, including NPCs and excluding useless interactable shit. I also fixed skills, most of them at least.

Monstaa Shit Quest II

Oh? I told you guys that I was going to start working on the database and the next village?

Well, you're fucked because I drew a shitload of new OC monsters instead! 8 to be exact.

At least this will give people a nice overview of how shitty my drawing skills are, so that they can decide if OC monsters drawn by me is going to be a good idea.

So now I will probably start working on the database and the next village, if no more good ideas for monsters pop up, that is.

Oh boy, I just finished the 3 monsters that will appear in the first dungeon: the forest.

This should kill most of the hate for now.

Will work on fixing the database aka the skills, equipments and other system shits.

At the same time, I'll work on the third mountain/forest village, which should hopefully include The Lair.
